Essential: Are you prepared for the Workforce Retention Bonus Payment?
June 23, 2020 | Workforce Management
On 20 March 2020, the Prime Minister announced funding to support the retention of the aged care workforce during COVID-19, providing a retention bonus for direct care workers in residential and home care to support the continuity of the direct care workforce.
The retention bonus will be paid by employers (aged care providers and agencies who provide aged care staff) to their eligible staff. Employers will apply and be funded to make the payment through a grant round which opened in June. The grant round will remain open until 2pm Monday 20 July 2020. First payments will be made to providers and agencies next month.
Eligible staff, retention bonus payment rates and further information can be found in the fact sheet. The bonus structure might seem intimidating at first, however, with planning and preparation we can minimise the administration challenge!
With that in mind, how have you prepared for the Workforce Retention Bonus payment?
Did you know that Mirus Works! has a superior reporting function that provides the summary of your total hours over a specified period, which effectively assisted you in gauging the approximate sum of your bonus amount?
For instance, if an employee works 40 hours a month, their average is 10 hours pr week. According to the fact sheet, this puts them into the bracket of people that receive 40% of bonus payment. Systemising the hours using Mirus Works! means you spend less time doing admin work and more time on what is really important
