Total claiming activity drops -3.00%

Rob Covino presents Mirus Industry Analysis (MIA), a series of monthly insights into the key performance indicators and cumulative industry trends from the 90,000+ beds we monitor for financial sustainability.

Welcome to the July 2024 edition.

Revenue

In June, the Average Daily Subsidy (ADS) across the sector remained relatively flat, settling at $269.78. Total claiming activity fell nearly -3.00%, with only 4.29% of total claims being completed by AMOs last month.

Occupancy

Occupied bed days remained stable, experiencing only a slight decline of -0.04% to 88.23%. The stability in occupancy results was supported by a continued balance of both permanent admissions and respite resident intakes across the sector.

Workforce management

Total direct care minutes declined -1.39% to 203.52. RN minutes also fell by -2.44% to 39.71 minutes, indicating a potential challenge when the 44-minute industry average comes into effect in October.
