Last week, the Department of Health and Aged Care (the Department) conducted another webinar which gave an overview of how providers’ operational and financial data will be published on My Aged Care from February 2024 to increase transparency.
After more than a year of AN-ACC, we have worked with over 100 providers to adjust their funding processes to the new AN-ACC model. Most of the industry are still evolving their internal structures and models and in this blog we review four real life examples of approaches and the lessons learned.
In our most recent survey, involving 192 Australian aged care organisations, we uncovered more on the industry’s struggle with care minute data management. The survey findings underscore the need for targeted support in managing AN-ACC care minute data. As the majority express concerns or uncertainty, it is clear that there is a shared challenge within the industry.

With the recent enforcement of mandated care minutes, we find ourselves in a precarious situation in the aged care sector. There’s a fine balance between maintaining occupancy and managing workforce costs efficiently, all while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Managing the balance in the AN-ACC world now requires three (3) key workflows: Forecast AN-ACC classes for pre-admission and current residents to manage care revenue; Establish consistent Roster Demand Template/s; Control and understand your data to then strategically request reclassifications.

In accordance with the Department’s Reform Agenda, the Department is initiating individual Care Time Assessments (audits) of your reported care time data as of October 1st.
