Direct care time nears 215-minute mark

Revenue

In December, the industry Average Daily Subsidy (ADS) saw a minor decrease of -0.23, settling at $297.21. Total claiming activity decreased by -1.11%, with just 6.87% of total Medicare claims being assessed by AMOs. Voluntary claiming also dropped slightly by -0.69%, reflecting the holiday slowdown.

Occupancy

Occupancy rates edged up by 0.33% to 89.57% in December. New permanent admissions also increased by 1.69%, while respite usage fell by -4.76%.

Workforce management

Total direct care and Registered Nurse (RN) minutes increased from November to December. The sector achieved an average of 214.96 minutes of total direct care time per resident per day, with RN minutes reaching 44.31. However, allied health minutes decreased by nearly -5.00% to 9.36 minutes per resident.
