The Service Development Assistance Panel (SDAP) funding offers a unique opportunity for aged care providers serving rural, remote, and First Nations communities. This program is designed to support the essential work of these providers, enabling them to improve care quality, address workforce challenges, and enhance overall sustainability.

SDAP funding is specifically structured to help providers in isolated or underserved communities. This assistance can include support with clinical governance, workforce planning, financial management, and infrastructure development—each crucial for adapting to the complexities faced by these regions.

Here’s an overview of the key stages:

  1. Eligibility and Application: Providers must first meet specific eligibility criteria and submit an application that details their needs and goals for service improvement.
  2. Matching with Experts: Approved applicants are matched with a panel member—such as consultants from Mirus Australia and Deloitte—who bring specialised expertise in relevant areas.
  3. Assessment and Planning: The selected experts conduct a detailed assessment of the provider’s needs, then collaboratively create a customised plan that addresses priority areas. This includes evaluating financial sustainability, workforce gaps, infrastructure needs, and strategies for compliance and efficiency.
  4. Implementation and Ongoing Support: Panelists work closely with the provider to implement agreed-upon solutions. They offer ongoing guidance, helping to build internal capabilities and measure progress, ensuring that improvements are both practical and sustainable.
  5. Review and Feedback: Providers are encouraged to share feedback on the panel support received, helping to refine future rounds of SDAP assistance.
