Welcome to the June 2024 edition.

Revenue

In May, the industry ADS fell -0.38 cents to $268.48. Total claiming activity decreased slightly from 7.68% in April to 7.22% in May, resulting in a change of -0.47%. In addition, the average age of AN-ACC claims dropped -5.08% to 45.36%, marking one of the lowest reported percentages of AN-ACC claims in a while.

Occupancy

Occupied bed days continued to trend flat, hovering around the 88% mark. Short-stay admissions fell -3.50%, representing just 19.60% of all Medicare claims. Additionally, the usage of respite bed days also declined by approximately -11.00%.

Workforce management

Total direct care minutes fell by -3.02% to 199.87, dropping below the national average of 200 minutes. RN minutes also decreased by -3.44% to 38.89 minutes. This decline may be attributed to winter and the flu season, leading to an increase in absenteeism and sick leave.
