Welcome to the May 2023 edition of Mirus Industry Analysis (MIA).
Revenue management
In April, the industry experienced further gains in ADS across all facility types with the average jumping up $1.17 from the previous month. We can expect further growth from the 1st of July with the announcement from DoHAC committing to funding higher wages in residential aged care across the country.
Occupancy
Occupancy rates saw a surge due to new respite admissions, which went up by 10% over the course of April. Permanent admissions performance in April was not as impressive as it was in March, achieving only two-thirds of the permanent admissions.
Workforce management
Total direct care minutes per resident per day increased by 1.24% from March to April, reaching 171.36 minutes. The RN minutes also continued their upward trend, with an average of 21.79 minutes worked per resident per day.
