Understanding process mapping in aged care facilities
June 25, 2014 | Aged Care Management
There are innumerable procedures and processes that need to be understood when managing an aged care facility, especially when managing finance and education.
Processing mapping is a tool that will assist mange performance and assess effectiveness. As famed organisational theorist Dr. Myron Tribus said: "You don't learn to process map, you process map to learn".
What can you accomplish?
The procedure isn't especially complicated, but it can be hard to understand when starting out.
How does the process work?
The first step of a process map is documentation, as it can later be used to identify how operations should be undertaken.
Continuous improvement initiatives are a key area that process maps bring to light. They can identify areas of complexity and generate ideas for facility improvement. For example, the mapping process may find that communication could be improved between care workers and their managers especially around identified training gaps.
Improving efficiency is a priority for all commercial business's and aged care facilities are no different, and a comprehensive process mapping procedure is one of the best ways to start.
